Duck and Waffle Local, Covent Garden, London

Duck and Waffle Local, Covent Garden, London

Duck and Waffle Local is the spinoff sibling from the iconic Duck and Waffle high in the sky at level 40 of the Heron Tower. I’ve had two visits to this Covent Garden/ Haymarket/ St James’s location, with extremely mixed results. Overall I conclude that […]

Snowflake, Soho, London

Snowflake, Soho, London

If you’re like me, and have an insatiable need for dessert following a meal, than Snowflake is your top place for a Soho-based after-lunch sugar high. At the time our group popped in it was only the one lady madly scooping out gelati. So it […]

WonderWaffel, Cologne

WonderWaffel, Cologne

WonderWaffel is a unique concept chain originally hailing from Berlin. At the WonderWaffel stores you can encounter an explosion of senses to your palate. Essentially, it’s a dessert house with make-your-own waffle combinations. One of the key brand signatures, is well, they put an actual signature on your dessert. I visited the Cologne store for an end of day treat and whilst it was a fun experience, it didn’t present as much wonder as I was hoping for.

Cream’s Cafe, Canterbury, Kent

Cream’s Cafe, Canterbury, Kent

Bubblewrap/ bubble pop waffles are nothing new. They’ve been around since the 1950’s in Hong Kong markets feeding one and all in need of a sweet feast. But this year they’ve exploded onto London as the next Instagram-craze due to one particular store. I have […]

Restaurant Hyggestund, Copenhagen

Restaurant Hyggestund, Copenhagen

All you need to say is “chicken waffle” and I’m on your table ready to devour. That’s what happened at Restaurant Hyggestund, which happened to be my first meal in Copenhagen. It had a nice level of crowd as well as the mentioned chicken and […]

Ballanger Confiserie Creperie, Nice

Ballanger Confiserie Creperie, Nice

The pinkest store I’ve been to to date. And quite intoxicating. Not unlike the food. Which is sweet treats like waffles, crepes, ice-cream, donuts, pralines, churros, candy floss and cakes. And all the drinks of course including those nuclear-looking frozen sodas. It’s an adorable venue at the Ballanger Confiserie Creperie in Nice, and it’s open nice and long hours (see what I did there?). So it can be both either a good start to the morning or the evening or anything else in between. The queues do get long, as you can imagine it seems a popular haunt for the local adolescents.

Frankie & Benny’s, Soho, London

Frankie & Benny’s, Soho, London

On some evenings in London it can be hard to finish that special dessert finish. This isn’t it. Frankie & Benny’s does boast lots of seating with efficient service, but the food was a disappointment. I don’t understand how this chain is even around. The […]

Sartoria, Preston, Melbourne

Sartoria, Preston, Melbourne

Matt’s the second of my contributors in Melbourne. A born Brit, we’ve temporarily swapped places in the world. He’s been having a great time checking out the food scene of Victoria, and that continued with a recent visit at Sartoria in Preston. Sartoria¬†is owned and […]

White Mojo, Melbourne

White Mojo, Melbourne

Yes, White Mojo is one of those cafes that prioritise visual impact. No, it’s not completely at the expense of the food. We dined in for a morning brunch before the tennis, grabbing and sharing three photo-worthy mains along the token whack drinks. Everything from the kitchen is completely ace in presentation and the flavours are vibrant, interesting and fancy.
