Bao, Soho, London

Bao, Soho, London

I am such a fan of Bao that I’ve been twice in one week. After discovering it’s delectable Taiwanese-fusion styled treats I couldn’t keep away. On one occasion it was lunch, and the other dinner, and both times didn’t have much of a wait at […]

Jazzgir, Canary Wharf, London

Jazzgir, Canary Wharf, London

Theatrical cuisine, live jazz, top cocktails: that’s music to my ears. Jazzgir restaurant and cocktail bar brings an affable sense of poise and whimsy to the burgeoning evening scene of Canary Wharf. The name Jazzgir means ‘spoilt girl’ and were left feeling just like one. […]

London Food Map: Restaurants You Need To Check Out

London Food Map: Restaurants You Need To Check Out

For a while I’ve been collating all the restaurant recommendations I get from people so I have a ‘hit list’ of quality places in London I can check out. I was doing all sorts of spreadsheets, then realised something with a geographical aspect would be immensely useful. So if I’m in a certain area, I’ll have some ideas on what’s around that’s good. My friend Joey also showed me how to make custom maps in Google Maps and -bam- the London Good Eatin’ map was born.

Chin Chin Dessert Club, Soho, London

Chin Chin Dessert Club, Soho, London

The Willy Wonka of the London dessert scene, Chin Chin exploded at Camden Market (not literally). Now they’ve since opened another store right on Greek Street in Soho. This was dangerously close to my office. I ended up doing a cheeky dessert run on a […]

HipChips, Soho, London

HipChips, Soho, London

An admirable concept, but it just doesn’t do anything for me. The mission objective of HipChips is fancy chips, or as you say here in the UK, crisps. But all the indulgence and fun in a packet of chips gets sucked away and replaced by […]

Tonkotsu, Soho, London

Tonkotsu, Soho, London

Tonkotsu is one of my preferred ramen joints in the city. There’s less of a crowd than say, Bone Daddies, and the location can sometimes be more convenient than the likes of Kanada-ya. I’ve frequented at both lunch and dinner times and I’ve been pleased with the result each time.

Foxlow, Soho, London

Foxlow, Soho, London

Foxlow arrived to the crowded Soho scene earlier this year and launched with a buzzing half price offer. This was enough incentive to get a dining group from the office along. The style is British-Euro and it’s reasonably good, but might need some time to […]

Tombo Poke Matcha Bar, Soho, London

Tombo Poke Matcha Bar, Soho, London

I’ve had two experiences at Tombo Poke Matcha Bar in Soho. Once with the takeaway via MealPal and another for a sit down group meal. For both experiences I do find the food at Tombo Poke tasty and of high quality but the portions are […]

Florentine Restaurant & Bar, Lambeth, London

Florentine Restaurant & Bar, Lambeth, London

The influences are diverse, the food is aplenty and our brunch at Florentine concludes as a roaring success. My friend Craig and I had a fantastic time checking out the new-ish restaurant and bar that’s part of the Park Plaza Waterloo. It’s minutes from South Bank with that extra distance making for one of the finest dining options in these parts. The menu is brasserie and there’s some signature highlights including the flat breads, steaks and the unmissable ostrich egg option. As well, the cocktails and bubbles range at Florentine is superb and that’s where our time and this review starts at!
