In Berlin I was staying at Max Brown Ku’Damm (I should write about that, it’s a real nice place. Pricey, but nice) and they had an adjoining brunch bar called Benedict. This place was an all day affair and it was always packed. I’m talking PACKED. […]
I was expecting a little bit better when I headed into Trade, a coffee shop and cafe located on Commercial Street and Spitalfields Market. It’s a short stroll that makes it perfect for my morning routine, but the food and coffee didn’t hit the mark […]
Ozone Coffee Roasters in Shoreditch is Kiwi-owned, so you’d expect to find some of the best coffees in London, right? Well that would be entirely correct. There’s nothing like a familiar cup of perfect brew. I was hoping the food was going to be magnificent, but it ended up being merely there. Still, it’s a popular spot and maybe some of the other menu options could have fared better.
I often find myself craving an Antipodean style of brunch in the weekend. There’s something to the laidback vibe, the flowing coffee, food that looks as good as it tastes. This feeling led to me to Lantana in Shoreditch, a very Australian cafe offering one […]
A good egg or a bad egg? We had both sides of the egg on our visit to Jerusalem-styled neighbourhood eatery The Good Egg. It’s a venue with a lot of fanfare, afternoon queues and mentions across much of the hip city press. In fact, […]
My point of residence here in London affords me easy access to four handy stations. That’s Victoria, Pimlico, St Jame’s Park and Westminster. So handy, right? Due partially to this, I do find myself often venturing further afield then sampling some of the local cuisine around here. Time Out London was so generous to label the area of Pimlico-cum-Victoria as “a gastronomic desert, riddled with soulless chains and not much else”. Which is not entirely untrue. But meet Pimlico Fresh.
I had only one day in Manchester so I needed a brunch to make it count. I summoned the guidance of my Mancunian-turned-Melbourne friend Katie for some advice. She said I’d love the Northern Quarter and passed on advice to check out Federal Cafe & […]
An antipodean affair for an antipodean group. Something about New Zealand/ Australian-style brunches really does it for me. The visual feast, the over the top vibe, the (usual) industrial chic of the venues. Oh yeah, and the amazing coffee. Timmy Green in Victoria is all of […]
The influences are diverse, the food is aplenty and our brunch at Florentine concludes as a roaring success. My friend Craig and I had a fantastic time checking out the new-ish restaurant and bar that’s part of the Park Plaza Waterloo. It’s minutes from South Bank with that extra distance making for one of the finest dining options in these parts. The menu is brasserie and there’s some signature highlights including the flat breads, steaks and the unmissable ostrich egg option. As well, the cocktails and bubbles range at Florentine is superb and that’s where our time and this review starts at!
