Nando’s, South Melbourne
Nando’s seems to have a funny reputation here in Melbourne, there’s so many around but people love to bag them and compare to the UK ones which apparently really, really good. Apparently. We had some Nando’s in New Zealand, but I don’t recall it having that much of an impact. Of my positive experience at this branch, I had an open pita with chicken tenderloins, African grain salad, tomato and coriander mint yoghurt. This was decent with a big serving and the salad was tasty. Chicken wasn’t huge (more like a glorified nugget) but I was happy with the dish.
Of my less successful trip to Nando’s (and consequently, the last trip) I went for the chicken hummusphere burger. That was a bit of a first-world disaster with the relish I asked not to have and it came in a roll (which is not a burger bun by the way). The roll was not fresh and was not soft and was not edible. So wasn’t thrilled with that. I could also complain about the salad but I’ll leaf it there.
Pro tip: Nandos do some decent offers from time and has a loyalty club, be all over Ozbargain for that
Averages probably 6/10
