Miss Chu, South Melbourne
My first meal from Miss Chu was quite a vivid memory, as it was also the day of the Election announcement and we were all summoned to the office for a momentous Sunday night in. We ordered delivery from the newly opened Miss Chu and after what felt like an hour, we got our happy meals for our tired faces. I had the lemongrass beef with shirataki noodles (look mum, no carbs!). The food travelled decently well (albeit the store is only a block away) and it was mightily satisfactory. How lazy were we.
On less dramatic occasions I’ve had an evening bite there as well as trying their new lunch special (as pictured). For $12 you get a meal of the day and rice rolls. The store brands itself as “queen of rice rolls” but it’s all a bit hyperbole. They’re good enough. The lunch option on my day was simply described as “it’s chicken” and it lived up that description. The grainy red rice wasn’t properly done which took away from the dish as it had the texture of quinoa and seeds. I like Miss Chu, but it’s overpriced for faux (or should that be Pho?)-vVietnamese and then the extra cost of sitting (inversely, discount for takeaway) is an unnecessary burn.
Pro tip: eat in/ takeaway menu has different pricing. Check out the lunch specials each day too.
