Yokozuna Express, QV Melbourne
So this little hive opened up in the QV Centre and looked buzzy enough to try, with boiling pots and a cute menu. Supposedly there’s other branches of Yokozuna with this opting for a cheaper price point and a faster level of service which I assume is for food court patronage.
This was a day that called for something a little different so I went for a dry ramen with chicken karage. You order at the first bench, pay at the second and wait for your meal at the third. It came out quickly enough and plenty of opportunity for toppings if you feel like giving in to an upsell or two.
The meal itself was a bit a bit average with the chicken being straight from the warmer – so naturally it wasn’t warm – with meaty goodness but lacking the fresh from the fryer sense of feeling. The sauce was a bit lacking and lacking in quantity and had a weird spice which was replaced with liberal use of the gratis sesame dressing and mayo.
Pro tip: don’t ask for water because the bitches won’t give you any.
