A tad corporate, Supagrind was loaded with the suits on the Friday morning I popped in for a breakfast coffee with my friend Jo. It’s a nicely fitted out store, with the coffee functionalities in the front to cater for the stop-and-go customers in a rush. Based on the singular dish I tried, not sure if the food is quite yet excellent but it is certainly well priced and the fast service makes it worthwhile keeping in mind for a hurried stop.
I found a table inside with some fun slidable tables and ordered the Sweet Potato Rosti ($14.50) with bacon, poached eggs, apple cider hollandaise and honey. This arrived nice and quickly but something felt a bit missing for me. Not sure if the sweet notes really belonged with anything other the bacon and I think if the hash was a bit more crunchier that it would have been elevated to amazing. Some of the flavour notes were too subtle, a few tweaks and it’s there. Coffee was a bit on the more average for me as well, according to Jo it might be due to the “over-extraction resulting in bitter notes developing”. Yeah, that.
