Shophouse Kitchen, Melbourne CBD
A super handy location and one that never fails to get you seated and fed in a hurry. The cuisine at Shophouse Kitchen is a bit too clean for my liking, when a bit of grunge is necessary for more authentic, Asian cuisine. The toilet in the store has a bit of literal grunge. Can’t complain at these prices though.
I dare took my parents here as well as a for a solo after work bite and both have worked out favourably. Like any proper Asian restaurant the menu has serious thud factor at thirty six pages and it features plenty of pictures for you to judge. Pictures are pretty. I went for the braised pork belly on dry noodle in the below and this was a fine dish, with tender meat that was just above being too dry and a hefty portion to boot. T
On another occasion I went for the fun popcorn chicken rice set that comes with an egg, vegetables and rice. Like a happy meal for adults. Maybe not quite to the level of happy, but at least mildly contented-meal. Clinical to some degree but also cheap and filling on another.
