Sam Sam, Melbourne
I typically have an affinity with things that share my name, so a restaurant that has my name twice must be pretty close to my heart. Sam Sam is an extremely handy location, with Bourke X Swanston probably being my favourite intersection in all of Melbourne. Fun on all sides.
The restaurant is a no-fuss Korean offering with tables across two levels and mostly traditional menu items. I’ve only ever done the bibimbap so can’t comment on anything else – a few people have fed back that the fried chicken is good. I enjoyed my beef bulgogi though there wasn’t enough of a heap of beef but everything in the bowl was fresh and well prepared. A good mix. You do need to top up the condiments to get sufficient flavour though, it’s a bit plain otherwise.
Pro tip: share the chicken if getting it, I’ve seen the plate and it’s huge
