Fukuryu Ramen, Melbourne
My first meal in Melbourne happened to be at this hidden laneway ramen shop in Chinatown and it was a great introduction to some of the quirks of the city. Since then I’ve popped in a few more times to Fukuryu, though emotionally, I have moved on to other ramen faves like Hakata. On my last occasion I ordered the miso ramen with a blended miso paste served with buttered corn, pork belly and veges.
It was a solid ramen offering but I didn’t quite enjoy the broth as much as I have at a few other places. The buttered corn was yum, may have preferred a bit more of a buttery taste across the rest of the noodles. Fukuryu remains a cool spot to take new people to the city to, and the name can be perfect in select, punny situations.
