Cupcake Central, Melbourne CBD
Existing on the food court level of Melbourne Central is the aptly named Cupcake Central. I checked it out to use up the 50% Entertainment Book offer mainly, but they actually do have a cool selection of more interesting flavours that makes worth checking out. I had a very fun watermelon flavoured cupcake that lived up its flavour profile and right now there’s one called the Regina George which sounds completely mysterious and ridiculous but I really want it regardless. I’m sure you would too. Everyone would.
Handily, their cupcakes come in normal or baby cake size for all their flavours (which also rotate daily) and the caramel popcorn and vanilla praline cupcakes I had were good exemplars of their work. Decent cake base, good toppings. I do appreciate the restraint on the buttercream too from Cupcake Central, it isn’t over the top like some other places and a little does go a long way. Some of the other rotating flavours include: choc avocado, wagon wheel, Wonka’s fairy bread, pandan mountain and pancake stand. That alone carves a clever niche for their creativity and one cupcakerie worth checking out. How fetch.
