CJ Lunch Bar, Melbourne
One of the cheapest and busiest Korean places in town is CJ Lunch Bar, slightly hidden away in Little Lonsdale Street and easily identified by the queues forming around. Plenty of the dishes are under the $10 mark, so it’s naturally become a haunt for both the fiscally challenged and the penny savers. The menu itself is pretty extensive and there should be a few good options no matter what level of Korean you’re prepared for.
I went for the honey pepper chicken don for $7.90 and this came quickly and was exactly what I was after. Decent sized meal with crispy chicken in a subtle, peppery sweet sauce. There was also token salad there for token balance and I happily finished off the order content with the offering. Quality is okay for the price. I’ve returned a few more times since and have also enjoyed the bulgogi, the sweet potato noodle and a mystery soup dish I have no other memory of. If you can get a table, it’s a definite recommended cheap eat around these parts.
Pro tip: closed from 10pm and Sundays.
