Mile End Bagels, Fitzroy
Bagels have a special place in my heart, and not just because they’re the savoury version of donuts. Mile End Bagels has been open a little while now, and I only need to turn direction thrice to get there from my house. The vibe is much too hipster for my liking but the food is pretty good. I ordered the number 11, which was bacon, egg salad, lettuce, tomato and kewpie mayo on the everything bagel. The menu has the usual bagel offerings though all the luxe versions are a bit overpriced.
The bagel sandwich was pretty good but I think I felt the bagels weren’t the best I’ve had. It was a tad too chewy for my liking, not sure if it was down to the style or whatever. The bacon, egg salad and general insides were great through and they didn’t skimp on the bacon at all. Service was super fast other than the bitch before me who spent five minutes chatting to the staff. Single bagels are three bucks which isn’t too bad but I think I currently prefer the ones at 5 & Dime.
