Gontran Cherrier Boulangerie, Collingwood
I quite like the pastries and baking at Gontran Cherrier. The croissants are different but still very enjoyable with a rich buttery flavour without the flakiness of a more traditional execution, which I don’t mind. Living nearby I enjoy stopping in for a treat on my way to the Coles to indulge in some self-service checkout fraud. I did come across a very rude lady here on my first visit at Gontran Cherrier, she threw a fit because I stepped on her feet. I said nothing but shot back a glance that would signify it was fully intended.
Above is the green tea and white chocolate scone, one of the more creative bakery items on the range here to entice the hipster inner north crowd. I enjoyed this with the two making for a delicate union, much like my shoe and that woman’s foot. I’ve dabbled across the breads and other baked items and these are all solid, I haven’t yet dined on the menu but I’m in agreement with the one review I read which said the whole place feels like a frozen yogurt store. That’s cold.
