Flovie Florist Cafe, Carlton, Melbourne
Flovie Florist Cafe knows how to turn heads… and noses. The florist-meets-cafe in this unique and beautiful brunch venue. Probably the prettiest cafe I’ve been to in a long while, and well worth the trip/ wait. The sweet stuff is where top marks are at Flovie, and it’s a perfect spot for a chat and some chill.
Brunch in bloom
Although the address says Carlton, Flovie is in the heart of the Melbourne CBD and a stone’s throw from Queen Vic Market. Parking sometimes in the city can be problematic, but we were lucky following a couple who let us park after them. Things were already off to a great start this morning.
Sweet and eat
Flovie Florist Cafe is already super popular even after two weeks post-launch, and after a little queue we are ready to dine. One of the signature drinks I have been eyeing in the anticipation of visiting was the rose tea latte. My flatmate was also keen to check out their version of the blue latte. Both were fragrant, light and quite different. It’s worth checking out even if you can never pass up a coffee.
In terms of food… well, we may have gone a little overboard with the order. We ticked off one savoury and one sweet dish and needless to say, it’s more than two can finish. We had a great time trying though.
Our highlights were the two sweet brunch dishes. One was the black forest hotcakes, and my personal fave was the french toast casserole. It has a hearty sweetness to it and has a nice ‘just baked’ texture to boot. All the dishes were presented with a touch of elegance and the hotcakes even come with a sweet little rose to take home too.
Of the breakfast plate, it has all the the things you’d want in the morning and even the beans are homemade and delicious. Happy little bits of everything. It’s a eye pleasing and mouth watering experience at Flovie and it’s one that’s going to be around for a long while.
