The biggest vacation of 2017 for me (other than the whole move to London thing) was a week and a bit away in Japan! And what a wild ride it was. Japan’s the kind of place where some inside information really helps when you’re traversing […]
A new dessert chain that’s fresh off the boat from Japan to Melbourne’s shores is Tsujiri, which takes it’s residence over the former Guylian cafe on Swanston Street. The matcha soft serve is decently good but is pretty overpriced when most of the options are tipping […]
Nothing pleases me more than finding a quaint little hiding spot glowing with charm and pleasant surprises. I’ve lived in Collingwood a little while now and never really noticed this place until it was was prompted by a friend. Aka Siro is a Japanese restaurant just off Smith St (so easy to miss) and does a modern yet casual twist on Japanese dishes for lunch and dinners.
I went with the slightly unusual combo (at least for me) of karage chicken curry. I’m used to having both individually but not together. It was a tasty mix of crispy coated chicken with a rich and comforting curry combo. Possibly could have had a bit more meat ratio but even as coating it was tasty. Service was super affable and I enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant and the neighbouring dishes also looked stellar. Definitely a winner and a keeper. I’ll try be back to sample some if the choices available when I can.
Pro tip: don’t go Sunday as they’ll be closed!
